unit 4 activity 4

http://photo.tutsplus.com/articles/inspiration/50-stunning-slow-shutter-speed-images/

This photo is an example of a slow shutter speed when the photographer took the picture. The photographer is capturing the light of the cars passing by the side of the road. The depth of field is great because everything is in focus and nothing is blurred out in this photo.

unit 4 activity 2

xcitefun.net

The photographer of this photo had to use a very fast shutter speed to capture the girl in the photo flipping. The depth of field in this photo became greater because the background and the subject are both in focus. It gives you the feeling of movement because the girl is in motion doing a flip.

unit 4 activity 1

This photo is capturing the decisive moment because he toke the photo at the perfect time when he was coming down the stairs. The man on the bicycle was in  the right place at the right time for the photographer to take the photo and he captured the movement in the photo.

activity4

The first photo the light source is from a lamp or a light source in a studio. The light is focused on her face so its hard light because its surrounded by the shadow. The second photo is a light source from the sun so its considered soft light. The light is coming from the sun through the trees.

Activity 3 light

http://www.avforums.com/forums/digital-photography/1203140-canon-400d-wherever-do-i-start.html

The first photo is an example of shallow depth of field. The light in the photo is an example of soft light because the light is from the sun and focusing on the subject and it is not casting any shadow. The second photo is great depth of field. The example of light in this photo is also soft light because it too is not casting a shadow.

Activity 2 light

 http://freephotocourse.com/photography-tip-13.html

Both of these photos are taken with a single light source. Both use a studio light for the subject the first photo uses a bright light to focus on the subject. The second photo is casting a shadow so its hard light.

Actvity 1 Soft light vs Hard light

Activity 1

This photo is an example of soft light. The photo is taken outside in the sun , and the sun is considered to be soft light. Soft light refers to light that tends to "wrap" around objects, casting shadows with soft edges. The softness of the light depends mostly on the following two factors:Distance. The closer the light source, the softer .it becomes.Size of light source. The larger the source, the softer it becomes.

Hard light is like the lighting used in studios. The bottom picture is an example of hard light because the photographer used studio lighting which is bright and gives off a shadow.
The focused light will produce harder-edged shadows.

Activity 4

photos by Felicia Need

The first photo has a sense of balance even though the subject is off centered. The man's head is to the left side of the photo. The second picture has a sense of off balance but the picture still looks right to the viewers eye.

Activity 3

The first photo of the dog is in rule in thirds, because the dog is the focal point in the photograph. The second picture is not in rule of thirds because the subject is not in the lines of rule of thirds.

Activity 2

Q. What does John Szarkowski mean when he says that photographers are quoting ‘out of context’ when they make photographic pictures?
A: John Szarkowski means that a picture tells a story. Its up to the viewer of the photograph on what that story is based on there opinion and assumption . He is saying photographers tell a story with out using any words, they are "quoting out of context".

Q. The frame often ‘dissects familiar forms’. At the end of the last century photography was having a major impact on Art. Impressionist artists such as Degas were influenced by what they saw.
Find an example of his work, which clearly shows this influence and explain why the public might have been shocked to see such paintings.
A:The framing of a picture often determines the concept the photographer is trying to portray. The composition of a photo also is a factor in showing the composition of a photo, artists use these elements to explain to views what they meant when they took the photo.

Prom Flowers: These pictures are of the flowers you wear at prom. The top was the boutonniere and the bottom was the corsage. I liked these pictures because they repesent the girl and the guy at prom. And they also show the difference between the two.

Portraits:
These photos i took with a professional lighting kit. I used the idea of a athlete for my model. I think these pictures look like they could be on a cover of a lacrosse magazine. I edited to look more clean and make the model look their best.

Light the Flame :These pictures reflect depth of field examples using candles as the subject. I thought the candles gave a interesting focal point and the colors are bright and colorful. The flame of the candles were hard to capture without the flash.

The seeing eyes

These photos show the different views of eyes. The eyes of a person can reflect so many interesting things. Eyes can show how a person is feeling and what their life is like. Eyes I feel are the most beautiful part of a humans body. They come in so many colors and show so many things.

These picture reflect my love for animals. I love to capture animals in their natural state. The first picture is taken at the zoo of a giraffe. I wanted to show the beauty of this animal in a different view. The second picture is of my cat. He was playing around and i wanted to show the playfulness of this kitten in the angle I captured it in.
